Teeing off for golf club fun day

Village Farm Marquees • April 16, 2018

Head for the Bridlington fairway on May 19!

Saturday May 19 is a date that’s already pencilled into many people’s diaries, whether it’s because they’re looking forward to the Royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle or the FA Cup Final, which will take place later that day at Wembley Stadium.

We have to confess that, as major fans of weddings, we are a tad more excited about Harry and Meghan’s big day than the footy, but the date is circled on our calendar for a different reason – we’re partnering up with Bridlington Golf Club to hold a free family fun day at the Belvedere Road grounds!

There’s no need for Royal wedding and sports fans to worry about missing either of the day’s other big events though, as both will be broadcast on the big screen in the clubhouse.

Golfing challenges and cream teas

There’s plenty of fun in store for folks of all ages from 1pm. Vaughan Parker, Club Captain, said: “We’re hoping families will pop along and have a go at some of the golfing challenges we’ve set up, and we’re also running a fun inter-school golf competition for primary school children to try to find the next Rory McIlroy.

“It should be a great opportunity for people to find out a bit more about the club and what it offers, or simply come along and enjoy a relaxing afternoon in a lovely location.”

Entertainment includes a bouncy castle and an ice-cream van, plus performances by the East Riding of Yorkshire Band, who will be bringing a British musical flavour to the day in honour of the Royal wedding with traditional tunes including Rule Britannia and Land of Hope and Glory, as well as some serene sounds from the harmonious Coastal Voices Choir. The golf club will be putting on a delicious cream tea for visitors to buy in our marquee, from 3pm to 5pm.

Teeing off a new wedding offer

The event will also give anyone who’s perhaps looking for a celebration venue a chance to peruse the picturesque grounds, the clubhouse, and our marquee, which will be dressed for a wedding to give visitors an insight into how things could look on their special day.

Chrysta Newman, Co-director of Village Farm Marquees, said: “The clubhouse is already available to hire but this addition of a beautiful marquee out in the grounds brings a whole new dimension to the package on offer for brides-to-be or anyone who’d like to host a large event.

“It will also create a lovely environment for people to sit down and enjoy their cream tea and the musical accompaniment during the fun day.”

The clubhouse and marquee will be open to view from 11am to 2pm, and our friendly Village Farm Marquees team will be on hand to give advice and answer any queries.

Watch this space, as we’ll be bringing you another blog soon with more reasons why Bridlington Golf Club should be top of your venue list for 2019!

We all know how unpredictable British summers can be, and the last thing any bride-to-be wants on her big day is rain (even if she does have a lovely big weatherproof marquee!). But every now and then we’re treated to an impeccable summer’s day, blessed with blue skies, glorious sunshine and gentle breezes – and that was Mother Nature’s gift to Amelia and Olly, who were married on June 17, 2022, in the gardens of Amelia’s parents’ home near York.

As everyone knows, the coronavirus pandemic has sadly wreaked havoc on people’s lives in many different ways, including by disrupting major personal events such as weddings. Couples around the country have experienced endless heartache as their longed-for, meticulously planned nuptials have had to be cancelled, in some cases – such as Heather Wilkie and Tom O’Donnell’s – no less than three times. So in the end it was fourth time lucky for the North Ferriby couple, who overcame all the hurdles to finally become man and wife on August 7, 2021. And what a day it was!

London couple Tiffaney Kaulmann and Stuart Alexander first set eyes on each other 10 years ago across a crowded dancefloor in glamorous city nightclub, Movida. They might have only been aged 18 and 23 at the time, but it was love at first sight and from that moment on their destiny was sealed.

Now usually with our wedding blogs, we tend to talk to the bride about the experience of her big day, and the groom unfortunately doesn’t get much of a look-in! But on this occasion, we will follow the lead of a couple who created a unique day that truly reflected their personalities, their love for one another, and their strong sense of family, and let John Haw tell his wonderful story.
