Working together to create memorable celebrations

We had a wonderful day at the recent Bride Beautiful at Elsham Hall wedding fayre. It was a real pleasure to meet so many couples clearly enchanted by this special venue, and exciting to see how many people are now considering outdoor weddings – for which our new ‘clear roof’ marquee is a perfect option.

We’ll be bringing you more news about this fabulous piece of kit in another blog, but for now we’ll give Bride Beautiful at Elsham Hall the spotlight it so rightly deserves. Here we talk to Bride Beautiful wedding co-ordinator Aimee Johnson about this stunning Grade II listed venue based in the rural village of Elsham, in North Lincolnshire.

The wow factor

If you’re looking for a venue that will knock the socks off your guests and provide a breathtaking backdrop to your celebration, you’ve come to the right place. Aimee said: “There are so many things that all add up to making Elsham Hall a unique and very special location. The Barn, which is licensed for marriages, contains lots of authentic architectural features and has a beautiful rustic charm with its brick walls and tiled floor. The courtyard adjacent to the Barn provides an additional reception space and leads out to the grounds. There’s also the Garden Room, which has a peaceful view of the lake, and is a lovely spot for canapes or after-dinner coffees.”

Seating can be provided for up to 120 day guests for ceremonies and wedding breakfasts. For evening celebrations, up to 200 guests can be accommodated.

It is perhaps the acres of luscious landscaped gardens that clinches the deal for many couples, with the added bonus of knowing Bride Beautiful at Elsham Hall only ever hosts one wedding at a time so there’s no danger of having to share this special place with anyone else. With a large carp lake, walled garden, woodlands and a secret wooden hut, there is an endless selection of backdrops for portraits as well as places for guests to wander and enjoy the view. “There will be some new landscaping in the grounds this year, with the creation of a rose garden and a pergola,” said Aimee. “This will be perfect for outdoor ceremonies, especially if paired with the Village Farm Marquees clear marquee which means guests are protected from the weather while still being able to enjoy the lakeside views and feel like they are outdoors.”

The weather at the recent wedding fayre was a tad chilly and windy, which gave visitors the ideal opportunity to experience how warm and secure the clear marquee feels at any time of year.

Bride Beautiful at Elsham Hall’s continuing popularity speaks for itself. Aimee added: “We are fully booked for 2018 but there is still some availability for 2019 and we’ve opened the diary for 2020, we are expecting a lot of interest in outdoor weddings!”

A personalised package

Even the names of the wedding packages on offer reflect the abundant wildlife that surrounds Elsham Hall – Ladybird, Butterfly, Hummingbird and Peacock (the latter strut around the grounds with their distinctive call, adding an exotic and colourful touch to photographs). Each package is competitively priced to reflect the number of guests, and date and menu choices, so there’s something to suit every budget.

Bride Beautiful at Elsham Hall have years of wedding planning experience, with a number of industry awards further boosting their reputation as a team who genuinely go above and beyond when it comes to helping couples and their families create the happiest day of their lives. Led by wedding planner Elaine Brocklesby (nee Jaques), each member of the team is committed to making every celebration as bespoke and individual as possible.

Aimee said: “We work hand-in-hand with couples throughout the whole process, giving them advice and recommendations and supporting their decisions. Our motto is ‘your wedding, your way’, and that’s the key to our service – we really listen to people. We’re also very responsive, our couples know they can contact us whenever they want.”

Asked whether she has any particular favourite weddings, Aimee said: “Every single one is special. I have worked on some with unusual themes though! There’s been a Harry Potter one, Alice in Wonderland, Mary Poppins, and even a Steampunk wedding. We always do our best to support the bride and groom’s vision and in terms of décor and theme, and the beauty of our venue is that we start with a blank canvas and are able to customise and adapt the décor to suit.

“Seeing our couples’ faces when we help them achieve their dream wedding is priceless.”

We all know how unpredictable British summers can be, and the last thing any bride-to-be wants on her big day is rain (even if she does have a lovely big weatherproof marquee!). But every now and then we’re treated to an impeccable summer’s day, blessed with blue skies, glorious sunshine and gentle breezes – and that was Mother Nature’s gift to Amelia and Olly, who were married on June 17, 2022, in the gardens of Amelia’s parents’ home near York.

As everyone knows, the coronavirus pandemic has sadly wreaked havoc on people’s lives in many different ways, including by disrupting major personal events such as weddings. Couples around the country have experienced endless heartache as their longed-for, meticulously planned nuptials have had to be cancelled, in some cases – such as Heather Wilkie and Tom O’Donnell’s – no less than three times. So in the end it was fourth time lucky for the North Ferriby couple, who overcame all the hurdles to finally become man and wife on August 7, 2021. And what a day it was!

Where do I begin? It’s certainly been a rollercoaster of a year for us all, never mind couples like ourselves, after months of planning and dreaming of our special day, having to postpone until a later date.

London couple Tiffaney Kaulmann and Stuart Alexander first set eyes on each other 10 years ago across a crowded dancefloor in glamorous city nightclub, Movida. They might have only been aged 18 and 23 at the time, but it was love at first sight and from that moment on their destiny was sealed.

Now usually with our wedding blogs, we tend to talk to the bride about the experience of her big day, and the groom unfortunately doesn’t get much of a look-in! But on this occasion, we will follow the lead of a couple who created a unique day that truly reflected their personalities, their love for one another, and their strong sense of family, and let John Haw tell his wonderful story.
