Explosion of entertainment for wedding celebration

This is what characterised Lisa and Adie Wadforth’s wedding in July 2016. It centred on a marquee in the paddock outside Lisa’s stepbrother’s pub, The Bay Horse at Arnold, in East Yorkshire.

Complete with a fish ‘n’ chips wedding breakfast and evening hog roast, a drag queen, a band, and tables named after their favourite cocktails, it proved to be the colourful, glittering explosion of entertainment they hoped it would be.

A clear vision

“We had fairly specific ideas about what we wanted,” said Lisa, a clinic manager for a private hospital group.

“We wanted something different to the standard marquee, with a reveal curtain for the dance area, outdoor veranda with tables and a kids’ play area – idea courtesy of our son Harvey, who was seven.”

Lisa and Adie, a construction contract manager, chose rose gold and blush nudes for their colour scheme, highlighted by sparkling sequin tablecloths and tall vases filled with fashionable flower bombs.

They designed their look themselves, inspired by everything from wedding magazines to social media, and hired a few bigger decorative items for the event.

The personal touch

About working with us, Lisa said: “Village Farm Marquees absolutely understood what we wanted to achieve and nothing was too much trouble.

“They also made their costs very clear with an itemised bill so that we could understand exactly what we were paying and the price of any extras.

“We had very definite ideas for making our wedding different and Tony and Chrysta helped us bring them to life. They provided us with a bespoke service which made us feel that we weren’t just on a conveyer belt.

“They really brought the personal touch, even going out of their way to make our son feel part of our planning. Their experience and breadth of ideas were brilliant and they did everything they could to help – including sourcing a cake table out of nowhere at the last minute when we suddenly realised we didn’t have one!”

Co-director of Village Farm Marquees Chrysta Newman said: “We’re all about helping couples to create completely bespoke celebrations. Nothing is ‘off the peg’, we enjoy working together with our network of trusted partners to ensure every event is as individual as the people involved.”

London couple Tiffaney Kaulmann and Stuart Alexander first set eyes on each other 10 years ago across a crowded dancefloor in glamorous city nightclub, Movida. They might have only been aged 18 and 23 at the time, but it was love at first sight and from that moment on their destiny was sealed.

Now usually with our wedding blogs, we tend to talk to the bride about the experience of her big day, and the groom unfortunately doesn’t get much of a look-in! But on this occasion, we will follow the lead of a couple who created a unique day that truly reflected their personalities, their love for one another, and their strong sense of family, and let John Haw tell his wonderful story.
