Festive Tipple

A Christmas Tipple from our friends at the Yorkshire Bartender!

We're getting into the festive party season this month with a Christmas tipple from the Yorkshire Bartender so thought we would share a bit of the Christmas Spirit! This festive tipple consists of Raspberry and amaretto – it’s both delicious and rather strong, just how we like our cocktails! So lets hand it over to Callum and the Team at YB!

Every year, I produce a Christmas Cocktail for me and the family, a little something to sip on during those cold evenings whilst we watch Christmas films and wrap presents. But for the last couple of years me and the wife have gone back to the same concoction; the unrivalled Amaretto Sour! This cocktail is the perfect festive tipple if you ask me. Its tangy, sippable and has that wintery marzipan taste which makes me dream of Christmas!

This cocktail is super easy to make on the bar or at home and only take a few ingredients and a cocktail shaker. First off we have 45ml of Amaretto, which will throw in the tin, we then add 25ml of Lemon (Roughly Half a Lemon) and 25ml of Sugar Syrup (You can buy this in Tesco just look for Gomme), finally we crack a egg and add the whites to the tin and discard the yolk!

Once all our ingredients are in our tin we shake our cocktail without ice for 10 seconds and then add ice and shake again. We call this dry shaking and wet shaking and it gives us that lovely froth which is a staple of any sour. Finally stain the cocktail into your coupe glass or tip in into a short glass. Garnish with a cherry or flower and finish with a drizzle of Framboise.

Ingredients

45ml Amaretto

5ml Framboise

25ml Lemon

25ml Sugar

25ml Egg White

Enjoy!

We all know how unpredictable British summers can be, and the last thing any bride-to-be wants on her big day is rain (even if she does have a lovely big weatherproof marquee!). But every now and then we’re treated to an impeccable summer’s day, blessed with blue skies, glorious sunshine and gentle breezes – and that was Mother Nature’s gift to Amelia and Olly, who were married on June 17, 2022, in the gardens of Amelia’s parents’ home near York.

As everyone knows, the coronavirus pandemic has sadly wreaked havoc on people’s lives in many different ways, including by disrupting major personal events such as weddings. Couples around the country have experienced endless heartache as their longed-for, meticulously planned nuptials have had to be cancelled, in some cases – such as Heather Wilkie and Tom O’Donnell’s – no less than three times. So in the end it was fourth time lucky for the North Ferriby couple, who overcame all the hurdles to finally become man and wife on August 7, 2021. And what a day it was!

Where do I begin? It’s certainly been a rollercoaster of a year for us all, never mind couples like ourselves, after months of planning and dreaming of our special day, having to postpone until a later date.

London couple Tiffaney Kaulmann and Stuart Alexander first set eyes on each other 10 years ago across a crowded dancefloor in glamorous city nightclub, Movida. They might have only been aged 18 and 23 at the time, but it was love at first sight and from that moment on their destiny was sealed.

Now usually with our wedding blogs, we tend to talk to the bride about the experience of her big day, and the groom unfortunately doesn’t get much of a look-in! But on this occasion, we will follow the lead of a couple who created a unique day that truly reflected their personalities, their love for one another, and their strong sense of family, and let John Haw tell his wonderful story.
