The countdown begins to Sophie’s big day
Follow our very own bride-to-be's wedding journey
We love nothing more than featuring the wonderful stories of our clients’ weddings here on our website, and we’ll be adding a particularly special one in June 2020 when our very own Sophie Marsden will be tying the knot!
Sophie has worked with us since 2017 as our events and marketing coordinator and, quite honestly, we don’t know where we’d be without her. She’s helped countless couples to experience the best day of their lives, and we’re overjoyed to be able to shine the spotlight on her for a change.
Sophie and her fiancée Josh live in Cranswick, East Yorkshire, with their two young children, Alesha and Harvey. Their wedding date is set for Saturday June 6, 2020, and preparations are in full swing.
We’ll be publishing a series of blogs between now and Sophie’s big day about how she’s getting on with her wedding plans, and we hope brides-to-be everywhere will enjoy the read. Let’s hand over to Sophie…
Ready for the next step
Josh and I became a couple back in 2009 and got engaged in 2015, we’re both East Yorkshire born and bred. It kind of feels like we’ve done things in the wrong order as we lived together, had two children, and only then thought about marriage! Saying that, plenty of people do it this way round these days, perhaps it’s because there are always other priorities when you start a family and it makes more sense financially to wait. It definitely feels like now is the right time, Josh and I are 31 and Alesha and Harvey are both at primary school.
There’s no particular reason why we chose 2020 for our marriage, we just wanted to allow plenty of time for the planning and preparations. We aim to get on the property ladder and buy our own home this year; in a way the wedding will feel like we’ve taken the final step to completing our family unit.
Decisions, decisions
So, right now we are house-hunting and wedding planning all at the same time! It’s definitely feeling busy and there are tons of decisions coming up that will all need careful consideration, but it’s undoubtedly very exciting too and because we’ve got lots of time we don’t feel rushed or pressured into making hasty choices.
I’ve been working at Village Farm Marquees since 2017, and my experience here has given me an incredibly valuable insight into wedding and event planning in general. I really do feel for any couples who are trying to go through this process without anyone to guide them, as it really can be a minefield!
Chrysta and Tony are brilliant to work with and are being a massive support to me as I formulate my own plans. They have so much knowledge, experience and advice, they offer way more than just a marquee and I can see first-hand why couples say they couldn’t have done it without them!
Developing a vision
Fortunately, I’ve met some amazing suppliers in the past two years and have been involved in so many spectacular celebrations that I’ve developed a really clear idea of what I want for my own wedding and who I’d like to work with.
I’m very much looking forward to sharing my planning journey with my blog readers – I hope you’ll forgive me for not giving away too much detail as naturally we’d like to save some surprises for our guests on the big day.
